1928 North Delaware now...

Apologies in advance for how dark the photos are--I'm not a professional photographer and I didn't want to use flash and on a rainy morning, a Victorian can display a dark and sultry atmosphere...

If every home had someone capable of so loving and faithful a restoration, what a beautiful place this neighborhood would be, indeed! Richardson is no stranger to restorations--he has been doing them for years--this is his fourth one in Herron-Morton Place, alone. His attention to detail and exquisite taste guide him in rehabbing and furnishing old homes in a way that is deeply respectful and replete with fascinating details, tasteful arrangements, sentimental family favorites and colorful collections. No detail is overlooked and every item, every photo, every nook and cranny fascinates, intrigues and inspires.

As a counterpoint to the modern designs that are recreated in mindless repetition and lauded in the latest contemporary magazines, there are places like this, that I believe, will stand the test of time. Incredibly humble about his natural talents, when asked how he cultivated his aesthetic, John shrugs: "I just like collecting junk." If what he deals in is junk, I am left to wonder what the rest of us should call our possessions...

Despite its size, this house feels warm and cozy. Though it is Victorian, it is still accessible, livable and comfortable. The home goes to show that with style and vision, a Victorian home can honor its past while still functioning beautifully in the present. The home's own era need not be ignored everywhere but its exterior. Seems more respectful that way, anyhow...I hope you get the chance to visit it in person yourself. It's the kind of home that could inspire a life-long love of Victoriana, so I hope some of the younger set make it to the tour!
