Favorite Friday: The Castle on Ohio

I am inevitably amazed when I receive a blank stare upon mention of "the castle" (that's what I call it) on Ohio. You may have noticed a small slice of it in previous postcards I've posted of the former City Hall at Ohio and Alabama Streets.
This postcard provides one slice of its early life, as you can see: "Headquarters Pilgrim Holiness Church." Who knew?

I have to say, with Harloh's (the vintage store I'm helping open this Sunday *in the Virginia Ave. State Bank building, from 11-5 btw*) I haven't had much time for research, so I'm going to put this out there and maybe one of you fabulous blog followers or facebook likers will have the answer, because I don't know what this building's original purpose was exactly. Nor when it was built. I do find it oddly amusing to see something that looks like it should be surrounded by a moat amidst the bustle of downtown. Also amusing that it was next door to the old City Hall; might have been more apropos to have the city mayor reigning from a castle...

I believe it is currently housing some attorneys. I just wish the street level looked the same today--street lamp and all.
The 2010 Version...
