Monument Observation Tower Reopens!!

Sorry it's been so long, folks! Even historians can get caught up in the holiday hullabaloo!
But I'm back and ...better than ever? Eh, I want go that far, but I shall endeavor to keep up despite holidays and power outages and other various mischief and mayhem.

And onto our regularly scheduled program... it seems the observation deck of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument reopened this weekend, which brought to mind this postcard from August 1906. If you can't read the scrawling across the bottom it says "W.H.C. arrived all ok at 10:30. Took the Monument, Capitol and P.O. this P.M." I think the author meant "took in" or else he had the good sense to put them all right back where he found them!

I don't know about any other Indy dwellers, but I haven't been up in that observation deck since my last international visitor was in town, so I don't have a more current northern view to compare against this one. Nonetheless, we all know that the view has changed substantially in the last 103 years. Please chime in, what stands out most to you in this old view versus today?
