March 1905- Happening in Herron-Morton Place, Indianapolis
On Wednesday, March 1, 1905, Mrs. Charles P. Doney of 2009 (now 2021) N. Delaware entertained a dozen friends and held a “guessing contest.” We guess a good time was had by all.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian Q.Van Winkle, residents of 1901 N. Pennsylvania, left behind the comforts of their home on Saturday, March 4 to host a “box party” at the Grand Theater for recently affianced couple, Miss Clara Hawkins and Mr. Henry Clay Brubaker.
The Friday Afternoon Conversation Club met at the home of Miss Julia Walk of 2023 (now 2043) N. Delaware on March 24. The subject of discussion was “American Poetry” and was lead by Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Foltz and Mrs. Jones.
On that same Friday, The Clio Club was entertained by Mrs. Willard Evans of 1830 (now 1836) N. Delaware St. Mrs. J.F. Edwards read an original story entitled “A Colonial Rose.” The program included a reading of the quotation from Booth Tarkington: “I wish you dreams of roses, red, red roses.”
Morris M. and Hanna Townley, who resided at 1802 N. Talbott (no longer standing) bore a baby boy on March 20th.
On the 26th of March, Mr. Henry G. Werbe issued informal invitations to relatives and a few intimate friends for the marriage of his daughter Helen to Mr. Arthur Wellington to take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5th at his home at 1820 (now 1822) N. Delaware St.
