JANUARY 1905
- On December 31, 1904, Miss Mary King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. King, gave a dancing party for the girls of the Sigma Alpha Phi Sorority at 1922 N. Delaware (now 1940 N. Delaware St.). “The rooms had adornments of holly, mistletoe, laurel and red bells. A buffet supper was served, the dining room table being in red and green, with red candles for light.”
-On Monday, January 2, newly married couple, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Noble informally received visitors in the afternoon and evening in the home of the Rev. and Mrs. B.W. Smith located at 2114 N. New Jersey (now 2122 N. N.J.).
-Mr. and Mrs. George Wolf, of 1815 N. Delaware (now 1817 N. Delaware St.) held a 25th wedding anniversary celebration and card party in their home at 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, after attending church services. “The house was prettily decorated for the event, and about 100 guests participated. The host and hostess were assisted by their daughter, Miss Anna Wolf, and their nieces, Miss Lillian Ittenbach and Miss Frances Dux.”
-The Monday Conversation Club met at the home of Mrs. George J. Mayer at 2018 N. Alabama (currently 2030 N. Alabama). The focus of the meeting was Polish literature. Three works of Henryk Sienkiewicz were presented for discussion. Mrs. Beckenridge spoke of With Fire and Sword, a Mrs. Barnes discussed The Deluge, and a Mrs. Brodbeck examined Pan Michael.
